On February 4 2026, Immigration and Customs Enforcement purchased and attempted to buy over a dozen commercial buildings to represent detention facilities. According to USA today,
multiple states such as Texas, New York and Oregon have all purchased buildings to enforce the plan ICE and the administration have agreed on.
With Donald Trump being in his second term in office the numbers of detention facilities have skyrocketed. 107 detention centers holding immigrants in January of 2025, at the end of 2025 the number has almost doubled to approximately 212 according to USA today.

After a detention facility opened in Camp East Montana, a report from American Civil Liberties Union based on dozens of interviews found patterns of physical and sexual abuse but mainly from insufficient food and resources.
