The Hard Workers Behind EHS!

“That’s what the janitors are for” — is a sentence I hear muttered far too often here at Ewing High School. 

It’s one said without much thought, usually said before excusing a mess. But those messes are cleaned up by hardworking people behind the scenes. One of them is Omar Rivera, a devoted member of the Ewing High janitorial staff who works alongside other members to keep Ewing High healthy and safe for its student body. 

Despite the early mornings and that occasional “Jersey™” weather, Omar shared that the best part of his job was waking up and doing everything he possibly can to put his best foot forward. He’s not the only one who finds joy in his job — Dave also expressed his joy for working for the Ewing Board of Education. 

While these are the only staff members I got the chance to speak to, it most certainly does not mean they are the only ones who share this pride and deserve recognition. 

From clean stalls, to shiny hallways, the hard work of these janitors are felt throughout every inch of the school. Many don’t realize how much effort is put into achieving and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment here at EHS. We have a phenomenal janitorial staff that is often taken for granted. They give their all everyday just to make this school a better place, their efforts should not go unnoticed.

Whether rain or snow, our Ewing High janitors never fail us, the least we can do is return the favor. Janitor’s jobs extend much further than just cleaning the school, and they deserve to get recognized for their impact.

However, this extends to much more than just the halls of Ewing High School. Every janitor, no matter where they work, are deserving of the same respect and appreciation for everything they do for us. 

So next time you run into a janitor, ask them about their day! And of course, thank them for their hard work.
