UFC 312 took place Saturday, February 8th, 2025. In Sydney, Australia in Qudos Bank Arena. These were the notable moments and fights that took place during this historic fight card!
The main event was Dricus Du Plessis vs Sean Strickland for the Middleweight Championship of the World, the belt for 185 pounders. Dricus, the champion, started as a -220 favorite before the fight started. And he showed why he was a decently big favorite. He won 50-45 on 2 out of the 3 judges scorecards which means he won 5 rounds to ZERO! Domination from “DDP”. The next fight for him should be Khamzat Chimaev, he is a wrestler out of Chechnya and he has dominated and went through the rankings for his first 4-5 years in the UFC. Fight should’ve already happened but it 100% should happen now. Sean Strickland should fight Anthony Hernandez next
Tallison Teixeira vs Justin Tafa was the featured bout and it was incredibly quick. It was Tallison’s first UFC appearance and he made a STATEMENT! He knocked out Justin Tafa with a standing elbow 4 minutes and 25 seconds into the first round. I believe this elbow actually shattered Tafa’s nose. Crazy power shown by the debutant and everyone is excited to see this new prospect in the heavyweight division.
Jimmy Crute vs Rodolfo Bellato was the 2nd fight on the main card of this pay per view and it was a war!! In round one Jimmy Crute was incredibly dominant and scored a knockdown and had 3 minutes 52 seconds of control time. This scored him a 10-8 round which is pretty rare in the UFC so this gave him a big lead early in the bout. The following round was very close, Rodolfo Bellato had 48 significant strikes and Jimmy Crute had 46 significant strikes. They ended up giving the round to Rodolfo Bellato making the score card 19-18 in favor of Jimmy Crute. Then the 3rd round was also close, but Bellato outstruck Jimmy Crute by 7 strikes and all 3 judges gave him the round. So 2/3 judges scored the contest 28-28 so this became a majority draw! Great fight and I believe they should run it back to truly settle the score.
Jack Jenkins vs Gabriel Santos was the top prelim fight during UFC 312, this was a matchup between 2 prospects who were ready to make a name for themselves. First round Jack Jenkins who was the underdog, came out extremely fast and scored a knock down in the first round. He also got 2 minutes and 17 seconds of control time which gave him a 10-9 on all 3 judges’ score cards after the first round. Round 2 was a little less entertaining, but the tides had turned. This was a clear Gabriel Santos round, scoring 19 more strikes over Jack Jenkins and he got a takedown which made the round even more clear to Gabriel Santos. The 3rd round started and very quickly, Gabriel Santos landed a front kick on Jack Jenkins, he somehow stayed up but he didn’t stay up for long. Gabriel Santos took him down and submitted him 2 minutes 54 seconds into round 3.
Opening the card, Anshul Jubli vs Quillan Salkilld had a fight in the Lightweight division. Anshul Jubli is the only Indian UFC fighter in the world and many people were tuned in… And many people were disappointed, Mr. Salkilld KNOCKED OUT Anshul Jubli 29 seconds into round one, most people knew it would be tough for Jubli but nobody knew the knockout would come that quickly. It was a great way to start the fight card and it was absolutely crazy to see.
That’s about it of the notable moments on UFC 312, there were a total of 12 fights but these were the biggest and best fights in my opinion. The next event is this Saturday and it starts at 4 pm. Not a pay per view but it is an apex event which will be very fun.
