The Ewing high cheerleaders are the backbone of support for the basketball, and football players throughout each season.
Their energy remains at full throttle infusing the gymnasium and field with excitement. On October 3, the cheerleaders decided to start competition cheer after not participating in it for several years, bringing new excitement and opportunities for the team and the school.
They started this to become stronger, more skilled cheerleaders while pushing themselves to improve both individually and as a team. It also gave them the chance to create new memories together, build stronger friendships, and most importantly have fun while doing something they are passionate about.
Competitive cheer is way different from cheering at football,or basketball games. Competition is a highly athletic, judged sport where teams perform choreographed 2.5-minute routines set to music, featuring high-level tumbling, stunts, pyramids, jumps, and dancing.
They performed in their first competitions at West Windsor Plainsboro High School, where they had the opportunity to showcase their hard work, dedication, and teamwork in front of other talented teams and supportive spectators.
A dance was choreographed and a variety of stunts and jumps were added to make the routine pop, the team dedicated themselves by practicing, spending hours perfecting their skills and timing every day until November 9 where they performed their routine in front of judges.
Despite them competing against really amazing teams they came in 3rd place overall.
