Are you ready for a Rugrats reboot?

The widely popular and beloved 90’s nicktoons show, The Rugrats is officially coming back for a new generation of Rugrats themselves.

Returning on double platforms as the show itself will be revived with 26 new episodes and a full length feature film. The news is just a tad bit alarming as the film is reportedly going to be a blend of live action and CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). The very same technology used to bring many comic book characters to life such as The Incredible Hulk.

The news comes from Sarah Levey (Interim president of Nickelodeon) who has spoken publicly on the matter according to The Los Angeles times stating,

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures”

While not much information is known on the rebooted season of Rugrats, it is expected many of the original voice actors may reprise their familiar roles, as well as new additions to the character roster of the show. Cheryl Chase who has previously voiced Angelica Pickles in the original run of the show, has stated the following via tweet;

“There’s no stories yet. There’s no crew yet, but there is a deal in place and that’s what I was told and that they would be contacting me in the future.”

However, for as little is known on the Rebooted series, much more information is present on the upcoming film. Set up for a release date of November 13, 2020 (no information on the release of the new season, as of yet) with a script that will be written by David Goodman. Goodman an animation veteran who has worked on Futurama and Family Guy in his career.

Along with Goodman, Original series creators will be making comebacks to executive produce the new show; Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, and Paul Germain are all on board for the new project.

While all hands on board the project are excited and putting in their all, some 90’s babies and original viewers of the show do not exactly share the same enthusiasm, several 90’s kids have openly voiced their opinions on the subject matters;

“I’ll only watch the show and movie for nostalgic purposes, other than that it’s a wasted idea.”- Via Edgar Sarat, 90’s baby and Trenton/ Mercer Firefighter.

“The CGI aspect of the movie is weird, that alone may cause the movie to flop.” said Clorissa Torres, New Jersey department of Social Services.

While the fan base is certainly split down the middle, only time will tell how well received The rebooted Rugrats franchise will stand against the test of time and nostalgia.
