Integrity, Service, Excellence: Reasons Why You Should Join the Military

Have you ever felt tired of the job you have? Wondered how your going to pay for college? Wanted to learn a skill or trade? Wanted to travel or desired to be apart of something greater than yourself? With Armed Forces week (May 9th-15th) behind us, exploring the many options for all those interested in joining the military. While honoring those who have served in the time of need and defended our freedoms. This is one of many other reasons why you should join the military.
Education and Skills
The military has many job/skill opportunities to choose from. One must pass their A.S.V.A.B (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) and be within weight standards to be eligible. The Armed service has many jobs and is the biggest employer in the country. Whether it be culinary or engineering. The military offers ROTC scholarships where a individual could commission as a officer in their respective branch.
Something Bigger Than Yourself
The camaraderie of the military is like no other. You will make friends that’ll last a life time. In addition to the camaraderie the simple fact that being in the military you are protecting the rights and freedoms that make our country so great. Fighting for a cause that is just and that cause is protecting the country against all enemies foreign and domestic. When you put on that uniform, you are not only just you. But you are apart of a team, a unit, a greater cause. That uniformity unites you and your fellow soldiers, marines, airmen, sailors and cadets to a common belief. No matter what background or creed.
So Which Branch Should I Join?
Every branch of the military has different traditions, yet have a common history in service to our country. The Department of Defense has four branches: Army, Navy, Marines and the Air force. The Coast Guard is not apart of the department of Defense and is only apart of the defense department during times of war. Each branch has its own specialties as well.
